EMT-Intermediate Course (EMT-I/85 or EMT-I/99)

This course fulfills all the training requirements set forth by the state for Emergency Medical Technician - Intermediates. The EMT-I course is a hands-on, interactive experience. Upon successful completion of this course (depending upon course length) students will be eligible to take either the National Registry EMT-I/85 or EMT-I/99 exam. This can lead to employment in a wide range of opportunities to include Ambulance EMT-I, Fire Fighter EMT-I, Emergency Room Technician. Private Industry EMT-I, Special Events Standby EMT-I (sporting events, concerts, state & county fairs, etc.) and others. Certain courses in certain locations are taught in combination and students can exit early at the EMT-I/85 completion point, or continue on to the EMT-I/99 completion point, depending upon the certification level desired or required in the location where they plan to work.

During the course students are assigned to both hospital clinical shifts in the area and ambulance ride-along shifts with AMR crews. During these sessions students perform patient assessments, assist with patient care (including basic and advanced procedures) and ride with the crew to deliver patients to local hospitals.
