911 Emergency Dispatcher Course

This course is designed to prepare qualified individuals for a career in emergency communications as a 911 Dispatcher. It is one of the longest, most concentrated courses of its kind, and provides comprehensive education on all aspects of the emergency communications system. Content Includes:

The course includes the Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification through the National Academy of Emergency Dispatch. Additional certifications are available for Police, Fire and Telecommunicator, but are not included in this course.

Unique to this program, NCTI maintains and operates a fully functional, mock communications center, which is used as a simulator. Students will spend time and complete assignments in the simulator, which is electronically linked to actual, working communications centers throughout the state. Students will listen in as actual 911 calls are answered, emergency vehicles and resources are dispatched by radio, and as professional dispatchers give callers pre-arrival instructions. Live computer terminals link the student to highly sophisticated Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems operated by American Medical Response. Satellite tracking systems monitor the position of ambulances for Automatic Vehicle Location (AVI) through Global Positioning System (GPS), directing dispatchers to the most appropriate emergency resources to assign to each response.
